Building a relationship with CPCC's Corporate & Continuing Education has provided a cost effective and valuable asset for training initiatives at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Co. Our company has valued the expertise of the trainers who always provide a comfortable learning environment for our associates.

I thought the Six Sigma Green Belt training was very well-paced, with the amount of material that we reviewed during the class and through the modules outside of class.  I liked the interaction with the instructor.  He initiated classroom exercises to use the tools that he was explaining.  The class members were able to learn the material while creating examples.  I learned a methodical approach to solve a problem.

The Problem Solving class ws more than I expected.  This gives you the tools needed to better understand the issues and how to deal with them.  Having the workshop training rather than a lecture was positive.  With workshop training, you get a better understanding as to how and why the method shown is used.  The steps learned in this class have helped me stay on track, getting to the true issue faster.

Based on the comments I received plus the participant evaluation forms, I believe the Problem Solving class was a positive learning experience for my team.  I was impressed by the instructor's ability to engage his audience (quite effectively) into the essence/mechanics of problem solving.

Blum, Inc., located in Stanley, N.C., uses the Integrated Systems Technology lab to enhance their Apprenticeship 2000 Training Program.  Andreas Thurner, Apprenticeship Manager for Blum, stated: "This IST training is definitely a big benefit.  The integrated learning approach that the IST lab provides is just perfect for our apprentices.  We noticed that our students learned concepts much quicker and seemed to have fun although they are learning challenging technical terms and applications."

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated

Not only did CPCC tailor its programs to our time constraints, CPCC also provided us with very qualified facilitators that could adjust the class to meet the needs of the specific audience.  The facilitator was one of the most engaging facilitators that I have ever met.  CPCC provided what I needed, when I needed it, and how I needed it!

There are several things that I like about the Integrated Systems Technology (IST) Lab at CPCC, but perhaps the most important outcome is that the knowledge gained by the guys has had an immediate impact on the job...each individual has become more of a "multicraft" technician, more well-rounded.

Roberts Polypro

Another satisfied client, Roberts PolyPro, realized that their employees must be crosstrained for their organization to be successful.  Roy Tetreault, Operations Manager, said, "It's very difficult to find someone who has the skill set for both electrical and mechanical systems."  This is precisely why this training program is critical.  He further stated: "The training was challenging at times... but it boosted the employees' morale."

Lutze, Inc. took an atypical approach when it came to training through the Integrated Systems Technology (IST) Lab - by focusing on employees in sales, marketing, and engineering functions.  This strategy has definitely paid off, according to Juergen Seybold, President of Lutze, Inc. in Charlotte.  "Today we have a much more educated workforce with a better understanding of our business and our products," says Seybold.  "Our customers are the ones who benefits the most..."

Unifirst Corporation

Command Spanish has been a great help to our business.  About 90% of our employees are Hispanic and don't speak English.  There has always been a language barrier, but thanks to Command Spanish and the instructor, we are closing that gap and helping our managers who come into contact with these employees to be able to explain what they need to do or what the manager needs.  This has been a great tool, and the best part is that you don't have to have a previous knowledge of Spanish.

Carolina Web Consulting

"The classes I took at CPCC helped me to start my business.  I learned everything I needed to know about web development in CPCC's classroom."

-Chris Ratchford

Carolina Web Consulting

YOH Support Services

"The facilities and instructions at CPCC are excellent.  Access to state-of-the-art equipment and products give you the ability to complete all the lab exercises.  The instructors are quite knowledgeable in the subject matter and also have work experience in industry, thus bringing real world examples and tricks of the trade to the classroom."

 Rodgers Builders, Inc.

CPCC's Lean training gave us a great start to our lean initiatives.  Bob Olson's (instructor) extensive knowledge and experience with many companies that are going through this transformation was extremely beneficial.

-David J Craft, VP Construction Operations

Not only did we gain a great deal about the mechanics of Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen during this three-day event; we also learned about how to understand the dynamics of our work.  We discovered that we have many opportunities here at RBI to revisit and refine our approach in all areas.

-Dick Josephson, Sr. Vice President

Caracon Construction Company

Our superintendents really enjoyed CPCC's Command Spanish class.  As a result of the classes, they are now better able to communicate with the Spanish-speaking contractors on job sites.  Their effort has paid off in another way as well; the superintendents feel that they now better understand the Latino workers.

-Glen Craig, Vice President

I FINALLY got the job at Bank of America in Quality and Productivity doing Six Sigma Black Belt work.  I love it.  What a great company to work for!  I wanted to thank you for your help in preparing for and passing the ASQ certification.  I enjoyed your class very much and hope to keep in touch.

-Krystin Keene, Quality and Productivity Engineer

The quality of the programs within CPCC has exceeded all of our expectations, and investing in our mid-level managers is already paying off.  Through the Leadership training programs, our managers now have the tools and the confidence to manage more effectively and efficiently, not only with knowledge gained in the classes, but with concrete action plans created in the programs.

-Tara McAlister, Staff Development Manager

Plant Partners

We have a very unique business.  The instructor tailored the class around us and our talents that we offer to our clients.  It was easy to stay focused because I felt the lesson was put together for us, not just companies in general.

-Michelle Otto, Manager

BCD Meetings and Incentives

Our team had a very good response to the Excel Level I training.  And while I knew going in that we had people with Excel skills that were all over the board, the instrutor did a very good job helping everyone learn something-whether it was a shortcut to make their lives a little easier or it was something completely new.

-Scott W. Luczywo, Operations Manager

Comment about our American Welding Society (AWS) Certification offering:

I am a welder in the field of industrial/commercial erection and miscellaneous steel in Raleigh, NC.  I became an AWS member earlier this year and successfully passed my AWS Certified Welder Certification...the AWS accredited facility I attended was Central Piedmont Community College...an impressively equipped and well run welding facility.  Though I could have conveniently obtained this certification locally...it would not have been to the professional standard that AWS upholds at CPCC...I will definitely return there for any future welding certification needs I may have and thanks to the professional and helpful educators I met there.  I would recommend CPCC to any welders wishing to advance their welding skills, education and professional credibility.

-Michael Rose, Raleigh, NC
