The best learning depends on how a subject or set of skills is taught. Methods impact directly on how much is learned, retained, and/or adapted into the workplace. As a result, a variety of training techniques and methodologies are used by Customized Training to help support the trainees, encourage their involvement, and confirm acquisition of skills. For example, core skills may be taught using a variety of the following methodologies.

Applied Learning: Learning is related to and directly applied to the participant's work environment and goals. Actual situations are used as appropriate. Additional practice takes place in the work setting and is discussed during class meetings.

Learner Centered/Problem Based: Learning is crafted around the needs of the trainee (real-life situations) and centers on solving the issues in practical ways. Group discussion focuses on how different members of the group might solve similar issues, increasing strategic thinking.

In Time Training: This powerful skill set is taught in a mini-lesson format (10-15 minutes). Then the group engages in a task involving "real work." For example, you have a staff meeting at which you have to make a decision on a hot budget issue. The trainer facilitates use of the skills taught in the group work time by having trainees practice asking each other, for example, "what did you hear me say." This method accelerates the learning of skills and makes direct application to the work setting.

Coaching Approach to Learning: This is a method that elicits self-directed learning in participants. The trainer engages with the learner in a coaching conversation that asks the trainee to use current tools and strategies to solve a relevant problem. Coaching elicits thoughtful, conscious, "best" thinking in trainees and promotes the idea of becoming a community of learners in the group setting and prepares the trainee to be comfortable being a learner in front of others.

Professional Coaching:  One-to-one training engaging the learner in coaching conversations that requires them to utilize current tools and strategies in order to solve relevant issues or introspectively examine personal habits/traits.  Coaching enables the learner to explore issues on a more personal level.  Aprofessional coach approach focuses solely on the learner to build specific skills and drastically improve performance.  This option is offered through Customized Training and done in a discrete manner.

Chunked Lectures: Short lecture time combined with discussions and/or activities directly connected to a work situation.

Skill Sessions: Practice sessions using a skill recently learned. Debriefings take place after practice sessions to put the learning into context for the trainee.

Group and Individual Coaching Sessions: Time is set-aside during class time (scheduled in) for small group and/or individual coaching time. Email and/or telephone coaching is available/negotiable.

eLearning:  Today's technology offers a variety of ways by which the learning can come to the learner on an individualized basis.  We offer several online classes located in our Training Matrix.  In addition, we have the capacity to host webinars, interactive video conferencing, and company-driven custom designed online courses and eLearning centers.

Other Training Techniques: In addition, the course includes guided group discussion, practical exercises, student-centered evaluation, activity and discussion debriefings, group and individual assessments, self-reflection, experiential scenarios and in-class group projects.
